Tanglio, Inc. ("Tanglio," "we," "our," or "us") provides AI-supported tools designed to help college students manage coursework, organize tasks and schedules, develop executive functioning skills, and work more effectively with coaches and academic support professionals.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Tanglio mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Services"), how we use and share that information, how long we retain it, and the choices and rights available to you.

We recognize that information students provide to Tanglio may include academic, learning, executive functioning, disability, accommodation, or other sensitive information. We are committed to handling this information responsibly and transparently.

Tanglio does not sell personal information and does not use personal information for third-party advertising.

We collect information that you provide directly, information generated through your use of Tanglio, information from services you choose to connect to Tanglio, and limited technical information necessary to operate and improve the Services.

Account and Profile Information

When you create or use a Tanglio account, we may collect:

• Name
• Email address
• College, university, organization, or program affiliation
• Account identifiers and authentication information
• User preferences and settings

Academic and Task Information

We may collect information you provide or import into Tanglio, including:

• Courses and class schedules
• Assignments and assignment descriptions
• Due dates
• Tasks and subtasks
• Study plans and schedules
• Goals
• Reminders
• Notes
• Task completion information
• Other academic or organizational information you choose to provide

Files and User-Provided Content

Tanglio may allow you to upload, create, record, or otherwise provide content, including:

• Syllabi
• Assignment instructions
• Academic documents
• Notes
• Images
• Audio recordings
• Transcriptions
• Messages
• Other files or content you choose to provide

When Tanglio offers recording, transcription, or AI notetaking features, audio and related content are processed only when you choose to use those features and grant any device permissions required for them.

Calendar Information

If you choose to connect an external calendar service or grant Tanglio access to calendar information, Tanglio may access information such as:

• Event titles
• Event descriptions
• Dates and times
• Course or meeting schedules
• Other information associated with calendar events

Depending on the calendar features you enable, Tanglio may also create, update, or synchronize calendar events at your direction.

Calendar access is used to provide scheduling, planning, and calendar-related features. You may disconnect an external calendar or revoke applicable calendar permissions.

Executive Functioning, Learning, and Support Information

You may choose to provide information about:

• Executive functioning strengths and challenges
• Planning and organization
• Task initiation and completion
• Time management
• Learning preferences
• Strategies that work or do not work for you
• Academic challenges
• Support needs
• Accommodations or disability-related information
• Goals and reflections

Some of this information may constitute sensitive personal information. Tanglio uses this information to provide features you request, personalize support, generate relevant guidance, and, where applicable, support your work with authorized coaches or program staff.

Communications

We may collect communications you choose to send through Tanglio, including:

• Messages to coaches or program staff
• Messages or prompts submitted to Tanglio's AI-supported features
• Support requests
• Feedback you provide to Tanglio

Information Generated Through Your Use of Tanglio

We may generate or collect information about how you interact with the Services, including:

• App usage and engagement
• Features used
• Task creation and completion patterns
• Check-in responses
• Planning and scheduling patterns
• Goal progress
• Responses to prompts and reflections
• Executive functioning patterns or insights derived from your activity
• Interactions with AI-supported features

Technical and Diagnostic Information

We may collect limited technical information necessary to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve Tanglio, including:

• Device type
• Operating system
• App version
• Device or account identifiers necessary for app functionality
• Crash reports
• Error logs
• Performance information
• General product interaction and usage analytics

Tanglio does not use this information to create advertising profiles and does not use persistent advertising identifiers for behavioral advertising.

We use personal information to provide, operate, personalize, secure, and improve Tanglio.

Provide Tanglio's Features

We use information to provide functionality such as:

• Task and assignment management
• Calendar and scheduling tools
• Reminders and check-ins
• Goal setting
• Progress tracking
• Syllabus and document processing
• AI-supported notetaking and transcription
• Executive functioning tools
• Messaging and coaching features

Personalize Your Experience

We may use your activity, preferences, goals, academic information, and executive functioning patterns to personalize recommendations, reminders, strategies, scheduling suggestions, and other features.

Provide AI-Supported Features

Tanglio uses artificial intelligence to provide features such as:

• Personalized executive functioning guidance
• Task breakdown
• Planning assistance
• Scheduling recommendations
• Summaries
• Coaching insights
• Document and syllabus processing
• Transcription and note-related features
• Other assistance requested by the user

Information you submit to an AI-supported feature may be transmitted to and processed by third-party artificial intelligence service providers that Tanglio uses to provide that functionality.

Tanglio will provide appropriate notice and obtain permission where required before personal information is shared with third-party AI providers.

Third-party AI providers processing information on Tanglio's behalf are required to protect that information and may use it only as permitted by Tanglio's agreements with those providers and applicable law. Tanglio does not authorize these providers to use Tanglio user information for third-party advertising.

Support Coaches and Program Staff

If you participate in Tanglio through a college, university, coaching organization, or other program, authorized coaches or program staff may receive access to certain information as described below.

Operate and Improve Tanglio

We may analyze usage patterns and product performance to:

• Maintain and troubleshoot the Services
• Improve existing features
• Develop new features
• Understand how users interact with Tanglio
• Evaluate whether Tanglio's tools are effective

Where practical, we use aggregated or de-identified information for research, analysis, and product improvement.

Communicate With You

We may use your contact information to provide:

• Account-related communications
• Service notices
• Security notifications
• Program-related communications
• Important updates about Tanglio

We do not use your personal information for third-party advertising.

Tanglio can be used independently or as part of a college, university, coaching, or academic support program.

If you participate through such a program, authorized staff may have access to information intended to help them support you.

Depending on your program and the features it uses, this may include:

• Your name and account information
• Overall engagement with Tanglio
• Task and goal progress
• Task completion patterns
• Check-in information
• Areas where you may appear to be struggling or disengaged
• AI-generated coaching insights or summaries
• Strategy suggestions
• Messages you send to coaches or program staff
• Other information specifically made available through Tanglio's coach-facing features

This access is intended to help coaches provide more informed and timely support.

Your institution or program determines which of its authorized personnel are permitted to access its coach-facing Tanglio tools.

Tanglio does not automatically provide your individual Tanglio information to an institution's general student information system, learning management system, or unrelated institutional personnel unless that functionality is enabled and appropriate notice or authorization has been provided.

Tanglio does not sell personal information.

We may share information in the following limited circumstances.

Colleges, Universities, and Programs

If you use Tanglio as part of an institutional or coaching program, authorized personnel may receive access to information as described in this Privacy Policy and any applicable agreement between Tanglio and the organization.

Service Providers

We use third-party companies to help operate Tanglio. Depending on the services being provided, these companies may process information on our behalf for purposes such as:

• Cloud hosting and data storage
• Authentication
• Artificial intelligence processing
• Transcription or related processing
• Email and communications
• Application performance monitoring
• Error and crash reporting
• Analytics
• Security

These providers are permitted to access personal information only as necessary to provide services to Tanglio and are required to provide protections consistent with our obligations and applicable law.

Third-Party AI Providers

When you use AI-supported features, information necessary to respond to your request may be transmitted to third-party AI providers.

Tanglio provides notice and obtains permission where required before sharing personal information with third-party AI providers.

Tanglio does not authorize third-party AI providers to use Tanglio user information for advertising or to build advertising profiles.

Connected Services

If you choose to connect Tanglio to another service, such as a calendar provider, information may be exchanged with that provider as necessary to perform the features you request.

Your use of the third-party service is also governed by that provider's privacy practices.

Legal and Safety Requirements

We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to:

• Comply with applicable law, regulation, subpoena, court order, or other legal process
• Protect the rights, property, or safety of Tanglio, our users, or others
• Investigate fraud, security incidents, or misuse of the Services
• Establish, exercise, or defend legal claims

Business Transfers

If Tanglio is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of some or all of its assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.

Tanglio does not sell personal information.

We do not use personal information collected through Tanglio for third-party behavioral advertising, and we do not create advertising profiles based on your academic activity, executive functioning information, disability or accommodation information, messages, recordings, or other user content.

Certain Tanglio features may request access to device capabilities or information, such as:

• Microphone access for recording or notetaking features
• Calendar access for calendar and scheduling features
• Photos, camera, or files if you choose to upload content
• Notifications for reminders, check-ins, or other alerts

Tanglio requests these permissions when they are relevant to a feature you choose to use.

Where possible, declining an optional permission will affect only the feature that requires that permission rather than preventing access to unrelated Tanglio functionality.

You can manage device permissions through your device settings.

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to:

• Provide the Services
• Maintain your account
• Fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy
• Meet contractual obligations
• Comply with legal requirements
• Resolve disputes
• Enforce our agreements

When you delete your Tanglio account, we will delete or de-identify personal information associated with the account within 30 days, unless retention of particular information is required or permitted by law.

Information stored in backups may remain for a limited period until those backups are overwritten or deleted through our normal backup procedures.

Aggregated or de-identified information that can no longer reasonably be linked to you may be retained for research, analytics, and product improvement.

You may request deletion of your Tanglio account and associated personal information.

If account creation is available through the Tanglio mobile app, Tanglio provides a way to initiate deletion of the account from within the app.

Deleting your account is intended to delete the account itself, not merely deactivate it.

After receiving and verifying a valid deletion request, Tanglio will delete or de-identify personal information associated with the account within 30 days, except information we are legally required or permitted to retain.

We may take reasonable steps to verify that an account deletion request was made by the account holder.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights concerning your personal information, including the right to:

• Access personal information we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your information
• Request a copy or export of your information
• Object to or restrict certain processing
• Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
• Manage or revoke permissions for connected services and device capabilities
• Opt out of eligible product-improvement uses of your information

You may also disconnect connected services, such as external calendars, through Tanglio or the applicable service provider where available.

If you are located in the United Kingdom, European Economic Area, or another jurisdiction providing similar data protection rights, you may have additional rights under applicable data protection law, including the UK GDPR or GDPR.

Depending on the circumstances, these may include rights to:

• Access your personal data
• Correct inaccurate personal data
• Request deletion
• Restrict processing
• Object to certain processing
• Data portability
• Withdraw consent where consent is the basis for processing

You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with the applicable data protection authority.

Tanglio is designed primarily for students and educational support settings and is intended for users age 13 and older.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without authorization or consent where required by applicable law.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 in circumstances where required consent or authorization was not obtained, we will take appropriate steps to delete the information.

Tanglio uses administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information.

These measures may include:

• Encryption of information in transit
• Encryption of stored information where appropriate
• Authentication and access controls
• Restrictions on employee and contractor access to user information

• Security review and maintenance practices

No electronic storage or transmission system can guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect personal information using safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information we process.

Tanglio and its service providers may process information in countries other than the country in which you live.

Where required by applicable law, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers of personal information.

We may update this Privacy Policy as Tanglio's Services, technology, or legal obligations change.

When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy.
